I have been always fascinated with the particle system in general. Always wanted to make one so I could just stare at it in awe. I tried a few times in Flash, but it never came out right. Finally, with the help of Quartz Composer, finally I have something to stare at.
The music in the video was added later with iMovie ’09. I’m planning to take it a step further where the music controls the particle system and the movement.
It has been couple weeks since I got my new unibody 17″ Macbook Pro and I’m loving it. The overall design, screen resolution, keys and trackpad surpasses my previous 17″ Macbook Pro.
Now, I wish someone would come out with a decent case for it.
Photoshop CS4 Content-Aware Scale is a transform scale tool with steroids. Using the image above as an example. The photo on the far left is a photo that I brought into Adobe Photoshop CS4. The image in the middle is the same image on the left. However, I used the regular transform tool and scaled it from the right. As you can see the image becomes squished. The boat and the guy in the boat becomes distorted. However, if you use the Content-Aware Scale under Edit, when you scale from the right (or any direction), photoshop tries to keep the photo the same without squishing it.
There is a video on 5min.com that explains in detail how to use Content-Aware Scale.
Time to move on from the standard browsers and get into designing websites and developing webapps for the iPhone. I found an iPhone simulator called iPhoney that will allow me to test my code right on my computer. Instead of uploading the files and testing what I created on an actual iPhone, the application sits on the desktop with the mobile safari ready to be used.
This evening, I took some time to clean up my Mac Pro. There were programs I wasn’t using anymore and files that needed to be moved to an external harddrive.
Then I installed Final Cut Studio 2 onto the computer. I was super happy to find out I was able to install all the extra content onto a separate hard drive. Luckily I have two 1TB harddrives.
I’m planning to take some time to learn how to do some video editing since I have a Nikon D90, which allows me capture video.
Last night Jon Stewart from the Daily Show did a face to face interview with Jim Cramer from Mad Money.
This past week, the two gentlemen were at war by jabbing each other with words. It all started when Jon Stewart chastised Jim Cramer and his network, CNBC, for putting entertainment above real journalism work. Of course Jim Cramer took it personally and so did his network.
Let me mention I have seen a few clips of Mad Money, I really don’t understand how anyone can watch that show. With all the camera movement and crazy sound effects. How can anyone take a show seriously if the host acts like a monkey.
So at the end of the battle, Jon Stewart really showed how he felt. I have to say, Jon won and I’m glad he did. It’s pretty sad I have to rely on a show on Comedy Central for real news.
The new HS is slowly coming together. After creating and throwing away ideas, I’m finally happy with the layout and the very simple look of it.
There is still a lot of work that needs to be done. The smart move would be to finish the whole website and then launch it. However I was getting sick of not having anything on the main page.
I just saw the latest trailer for the new Terminator movie, Terminator Salvation. I didn’t care much about the first movie. The second movie was good since around that time it was pushing the CG. The third movie, I think we’re suppose to forget about it.
However, the upcoming movie, I’m really excited. From what I saw, it seems they are adding more to the terminator universe. This is one movie I will be going to the theatre to see.
